As a part of the Chamber’s ongoing effort to help the business community learn about candidates’ views on the issues, the Chamber is hosting the 2009 Pork and Politics in the Park event which will spotlight candidates for Mt. Pleasant Town Council and Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  Chamber members will be able to meet and mingle with candidates in a casual and relaxed atmosphere to decide who is the best candidate before election day in November.

Time: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Place: Waterfront Park, Mt. Pleasant (Beneath the Cooper River Bridge in Mt. Pleasant)
Cooper River Room
Cost: $30 – includes food and beverages

Howard Chalmers for Mt. Pleasant Town Council

Mount Pleasant businessman Howard Chalmers announced he will seek a seat on Mount Pleasant Town Council.

Chalmers, 37, is a software design manager at Blackbaud and expects to utilize his experience managing people and technology projects to confront the challenges facing Mount Pleasant over the next four years.

“Mount Pleasant is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, and as such, I expect it to continue to grow,” he said. “We must prepare for and manage that growth guided by a focus on the services that Mount Pleasant residents have come to expect and on the cultural and historical resources that add so much to our quality of life.
